4 Times You Should Go To A Health Care Center

Government & Politics Blog

Everyone knows to go to the Emergency Room in the case of a serious medical incident. However, it's not always as clear what to do in the case of minor to moderate ailments. If you don't know whether you should go to the emergency room, the medical clinic, or schedule the next available doctor's appointment, learn about the four times you should go to a health care center.

High Fever

The body creates heat to destroy harmful bacteria, viruses, and other foreign pathogens in your body. The body should regulate its body temperature to prevent it from getting too hot, but sometimes the body determines the heat is necessary and allows a fever to get dangerously high. According to the Mayo Clinic, you should go to the clinic once your body temperature gets 103 degrees or higher. If the temperature gets too much higher, it can cause serious damage to the body, including irreparable damage or even death.

Muscle Strain

Muscle strains are rather common, especially in the ankle, hamstring, shoulder, and wrist. With a strain, the bone is still intact. However, it may be painful to put weight on or use the injured appendage. While some people opt to skip the doctor as long as the bone isn't broken, a doctor can assess the damage and give advice on how to manage the injury as it heals.

Animal Bite

Animals are one of the many blessings we get to experience on this planet. However, animals get spooked. Some animals will bite when afraid. A doctor at the health care center can clean the bite and provide stitches if necessary. The doctor can also look for signs of rabies if bitten by a wild animal, such as a raccoon or bat. The doctor may also have anti-venom for spider bites or snake bites.

Gastrointestinal Trouble

Diarrhea and stomach pain may indicate serious issues. It can also be difficult to sleep and get through the next day when suffering from stomach issues. A doctor can diagnose the issue and provide relief in the form of medication. The doctor can also verify that diarrhea didn't cause severe dehydration, which is a serious concern in severe cases.

When it comes to your health, it's better to be safe than sorry. When you encounter any of these problems, do not hesitate to visit your local medical clinic for assistance. You will feel much better than letting your body heal on its own. You'll also get much faster care than going to your primary care doctor.

Getting More Involved

Everyone is different, which is why I didn't care much for politics until a few years ago. However, after I purchased my house, I realized that the property taxes were going to kill me if I didn't work hard to fix things. I started paying more attention to how our local government ran, and I decided that it might be smart to start spending a little more time in the political arena. I ran for city council, and to my surprise, I made it. This blog is all about the importance of getting more involved and what you can do to change your community for the better.
